Atomic Camshafts are engineered for SOHC and DOHC Ford 6-cylinder turbo/blown engines. Stock cam profiles have short durations that limit airflow, requiring higher boost to generate adequate power. Our designs improve power by optimizing exhaust gas energy to boost turbine efficiency. On the intake side, precise valve timing maximizes cylinder filling, increasing power at lower boost levels. The cam profiles feature asymmetrical designs for faster valve lift, improving airflow without compromising valvetrain stability at high RPM. Slight reductions in the base circle size minimize lifter preload, ensuring proper operation.A key innovation is our “Duo Phased” timing, which opens one inlet valve before the other to create swirl, enhancing combustion and increasing valve duration without affecting manifold vacuum. This technology, introduced by us in 2006, was later adopted by Ford in 2008.
