Atomic has designed a high-performance oil pump specifically for Ford 6-cylinder DOHC engines. Recognising the limitations of original equipment (OE) powdered metal gears.

Atomic offers billet steel oil pump gears as a robust replacement. These gears are available as fully prepped pumps or as a rebuild option for existing units.

In DOHC engines from Ford, Gerotor oil pumps are directly driven by the crankshaft, exposing them to twisting forces that intensify with RPM. These forces, especially prevalent in manual transmission vehicles due to frequent throttle changes, lead to the failure of the OE gear. Ford DOHC 6-cylinder oil pumps face two primary failure risks: the OE gears’ lack of durability under high RPM and the Gerotor pump’s tendency to generate increased pressure and volume with speed, potentially causing the pump body to split.

Atomic addresses these issues with their high-performance oil pumps, which are tested to handle up to 7500 RPM.

Their models #306751 and #306751-RB feature billet steel gears, a high-flow pressure bypass, precise clearances, and a hard anodised billet end plate for added wear resistance.
